Produced Water Treatment & Drilling Waste Treatment Services
CETCO Oilfield Services Water Treatment Division specializes in the removal of hydrocarbons, solids, toxic materials and other contaminants from oilfield wastewater streams produced during oil and gas operations, transportation, and storage.
CETCO Oilfield Services Company's highly trained personnel optimize equipment and technologies to ensure our customers remain compliant with overboard water quality regulations while reducing waste disposal costs.
Applications
Produced Water Treatment and Polishing
Management of produced water is a major environmental and business issue for operators and services companies alike. Increased levels of produced water can cause previously profitable production wells to be abandoned. Increasingly stringent legislation has compounded the problem by limiting the amount of oil that can be discharged overboard in produced water.
CETCO's produced water polishing systems can be designed to meet any criteria necessary to meet overboard or re-injection requirements. The systems can be either a temporary or permanent solution depending on your needs.
Well Stimulations and Acid Flow Backs
When existing wells are re-stimulated due to downhole scaling, sanding or skin damage, the fluid packages used can be very aggressive. As these acid / surfactant packages return, they can cause major upsets in both oil and water treating systems on the production platform.
CETCO's technology is designed to isolate these fluids completely offshore through our process to prevent any upset conditions from occurring. This isolation also prevents low pH and non-compatible fluids from being introduced into your production equipment. We ensure all free condensate/oil is returned to you and all discharges meet overboard requirements.
Pipeline Maintenance
During pipeline maintenance pipelines may be cleaned, pigged or hydrotested to ensure the integrity of the line. During many of these procedures water is used as the testing or carrier fluid along with a variety of chemical additives. Once the testing or cleaning program has been completed you may have a very large volume of water to manage.
In many cases the water must be transported to the plant or disposal site to discharge based on permit requirements. Some areas require no more than hay bails to prevent a sheen while many permits require a combination of BTEX, COD, TOC, BOD, oil and grease, TSS and pH criteria to be met before discharge. CETCO Oilfiled Services has specifically developed technology for the latter treatment.
At CETCO Oilfield Services Company, we customize every treatment based on customer and discharge requirements. Most discharge criteria are expected in the ppb range which CETCO technology can meet.
Decommissioning Wastewaters
Decommissioning refers to any process where a platform, pipeline, or other structure is removed. In many cases, all fluids generated from the clearing and purging of such systems has to be accounted for before discharging or delivering to an onshore facility. Most production facilities will not accept fluid of this type due to compatibility issues. Therefore, they are usually collected by barge to be sent back to shore for disposal. This option can be extremely expensive.
Our technology is designed to treat these fluids on location offshore where they are collected or treated on-line as the fluids are brought back. We design a system based on a minimum flowrate to achieve the required discharge criteria. The focus is on compliance, safety, and zero environmental impact.
Initial Well Flow Backs/Completions
When new wells are completed for the first time, there is always a push to get the well on as soon as possible. However, the same problems with handling these fluids are evident as with acid returns. The brine type may vary from a 8.5 ppg KCl to a 13.5 CaBr to a 17 ppg ZnBr. The brine's value may also fluctuate a great deal which can lead to discussions of re-use versus disposal.
CETCO's technology is designed to isolate these fluids completely offshore through our process to prevent any upset conditions from occurring. This isolation also prevents low pH and non-compatible fluids from being introduced into your production equipment. All free condensate/oil is returned to you and all discharges meet overboard requirements. We also have technology to contend with zinc removal.
Workover Fluids and Coiled Tubing Jobs
When existing wells are re-worked due to a loss of production over time, the variety and stability of the workover fluids used can vary immensely. The complexity of the fluids can increase as coiled tubing is used in conjunction with a workover. The returns can include gels, pigs, brines at varying weights, seawater, and pills. The rates at which the fluids are returned can also increase unpredictability. And in most cases, these fluids are left for operators to contend with after the primary workover is completed.

introduced into your production equipment. All free condensate/oil is returned to you and all discharges meet overboard requirements.
Brine Filtration and Recycling
CETCO Oilfield Services can recover and clean up these valuable fluids. We can remove solids, chemicals and oil which may devalue the fluid, make it hazardous for transport, or unable to be used effectively. CETCO Oilfield Services uses its treatment process so that these fluids can be recycled back to our customer's pits for an oil free environment. The fluids can then be re-circulated allowing less fluid to be used onsite. Additionally, the fluid can be processed and recovered for credit.
CETCO Oilfield Services can also treat CaBr for overboard criteria as well as recover ZnBr and remove the ZN for overboard discharge.
Heating/Cooling Medium Treatment
Cooling systems enable the transfer of heat between liquids and typically consist of glycol and potable water as a 30:70 mix. They are used to cool / heat equipment or in some instances to reduce the waxing potential of the produced crude.
These systems can become contaminated with oil and/or other contaminants such as chlorides which if left unchecked can lead to serious corrosion problems

Methanol Filtration
Occasionally, methanol used for hydrate inhibition can become contaminated with solids, oil, or other oil based components during transportation and storage. To protect umbilicals, pumps, and other vital subsea or deepwater facility equipment, CETCO Oilfield Services can process the fluids through solids control equipment and media to help recover the methanol for use.
Solids Removal
CETCO Oilfield Services can provide various solids filter skids depending on the rate desired. The skids are designed to be operated and maintained on-line. Various micron sizes and fabrics are available for specific applications.
